Mark Noble will become West Ham’s new sporting director in January with the club creating a new role for their former captain who retired in May after 550 games for them

  • 35-year-old former captain will take up sporting director position on January 2
  • Noble spent 18 years in the West Ham first team, racking up 550 matches
  • Broad remit will involve supporting manager David Moyes on recruitment
  • He will also be responsible for the development of young academy players 
  • Hammers have started the Premier League season poorly and are in drop zone
